Amazing Sculptures for Special Effects by Ron Mueck

Since I'm living in Australia, I'm much more interested in the culture of this country. And thinking about that, I remembered I never posted nothing about Ron Mueck here. And he really deserves this post.

Mueck is an Australian hyperrealist sculptor currently working in the United Kingdon, but he also worked in USA.

He produced to advertising industry, but what I want to highlight here is his work for the cinema and television.

He began his career on the Australian children's TV Show Shirl's Neighborhood, making puppets for the show.

And after sometime he started to work with special effects for cinema and TV, collaborating with the effects for Muppet Show and Sesame Street in USA and after, Dreamchild and Labyrinth in London.

His work is amazing and I'd love to see his sculptures, but I haven't had the opportunity yet.

Cool retro poster for True Grit

Very nice vintage poster for True Grit. It was clearly inspired in the Old Western Wanted posters and fled from the common pieces. I liked. Specially the bloody bullet hole which gives the retro poster a  contemporary air.

True Grit is a remake of the 1969 Henry Hathaway' Western starring John Wayne and Glen Campbell.

Comic-Con poster of Don't be Afraid of the Dark

Ok. I wrote in my last post that we don't have many illustrated movie posters nowadays. And today I found out this beautiful poster for Guillermo del Toro's remake "Don't be Afraid of the Dark".

However, this poster was presented at Comic-Con 2010, an event that celebrates the contribution of comics to art and culture. Make senses to be illustrated.

Classic illustrated Barbarella Posters

Barbarella is a classic sci-fi movie from 1968 where you can see a highly sexual woman (Jane Fonda) trying to find and stop the evil. And here you can see some interesting posters from that epoch. They were basically illustrations or photography with illustrations like most of them until the '90s.

Unfortunately, we don't have many illustrated movie posters nowadays. I love them.

One more thing, if you are too young and have no idea about the movie, you should see the original trailer below.

Great Ad art for Hill Valley (Back to the Future)

Stunning vintage artwork based on Back To The Future, created by Eric Tan for the annual Crazy 4 Cult art show in Los Angeles - USA. It's a magazine Ad for promoting the town of Hill Valley in the '50s.

Hill Valley's Magazine Ad by Eric Tan. (Click to see larger)

The cool thing is that there are two signs of the influence of Marty's visit to his future home town of the past, as Eric said. One is pretty obvious, but the another one is not so clear.
